About Annapurna Devi Foundation

The Annapurna Devi Foundation (‘Foundation’) is a registered private trust founded in the year 2015 by Annapurna Devi herself.

Its objects include, among others,

  • the promotion of Indian classical music,
  • supporting poor musicians,
  • preserving the musical heritage of the Maihar Senia gharana of music,
  • commemorating the work of her father and Guru, Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan-sahib, and
  • preserving the musical heritage of the Maihar Senia gharana of music.

The Foundation serves these objects through a variety of activities such as providing financial aid to poor and deserving musicians, organising concerts, supporting the making of documentaries on musicians and conferring awards to musicians of high calibre.

The Foundation also actively looked after Annapurna Devi’s health during the last few years of her lifetime.

“The Foundation is the only organisation legally authorised by Annapurna Devi to be constituted in her name and entitled to issue awards and scholarships in her name. Unauthorised persons should not commission awards, grants or scholarships or name events, organisations or domains using her name without seeking the Foundation’s consent. The Foundation does not have any formal partnership or affiliation with any individual, charitable organisation, or for-profit organisation other than the trustees and the office bearers named on this page. The Foundation may from time to time avail professional services from individuals or firms and enter into limited, event-based collaborations with other entities if its constitutional documents permit such collaboration.
